The six action figure set consisted of 8" posable dolls, which featured clothes, weapons and accessories. The dolls included: Slaves Django, his wife Broomhilda, slave master Calvin Candie, Stephen, the fiendish ex-slave, Dr. Schultz, the bounty hunter, and Candie's bodyguard Butch. However, after the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, Najee Ali, director of Project Islamic Hope, and a coalition of African-American community leaders announced a planned boycott of the doll set, the Weinstein Company which owns the rights to the collectibles, ordered toy manufacturer the National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA) to discontinue the Django Unchained action figure dolls.
There is still power in the protest and collective action. Ungawa!
